Five miles west of Los Alamos, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area is 750 acres of skiabl terrain located on the eastern edge of the Jemez Mountains in north central New Mexico. Privately owned by Los Alamos Ski Club, and originally developed in the late 1950’s. The spot has incredible views over the Rio Grande Valley and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Pajarito Mountain boasts some of the best tree skiing and bump skiing in the southwest U.S. Beat the crowds of bigger-name resorts with little wait to get on the lift. There is no on-mountain lodging, however hotels and other lodging options are available in nearby towns.
Elevation: 9,000 feet (base), 10,440 feet (summit)
Ski Area: 750 acres total (300 acres are skiable)
Trails: 44 (20% easy, 50% intermediate, 30% difficult) + 2 terrain parks.
